Holzkunst Scholz, under the direction of Marcus “Locke” Scholz, stands for impressive chainsaw carvings and creative wood art that never ceases to amaze at events and workshops. WEIMA and Locke share a passion for wood. The result: the perfect partnership.
Holzkunst Scholz was founded in 2008 by Marcus “Locke” Scholz and, as the name suggests, specializes in wood art. Together with his team, the passionate craftsman transforms simple logs into lively sculptures that inspire visitors at trade fairs, events and workshops. He is particularly well known for his detailed chainsaw carvings, which range from realistic depictions of nature to imaginative figures.
Locke has gained particular notoriety through his YouTube channel, where he not only publishes weekly tutorials and wood science to his followers, but also provides detailed insights into his everyday work and upcoming projects. The channel has earned him a wide following and has made Holzkunst Scholz a well-known brand in the world of wood art.
Whether from the sawmill, chainsaw carving courses or other wood processing and construction work – at the end of the day, all kinds of wood waste is produced that needs to be disposed of. This is exactly where WEIMA comes into play with its WL 4 single-shaft shredder. Now all wood waste can be collected and shredded instead of laboriously separating and recycling it, as was previously the case. In the future, the use of waste wood will be further expanded with a WEIMA briquette press.
If you work with wood, there's no getting around the fact that you also have to take care of waste wood recycling - and in WEIMA I have the ideal partner at my side.
From May 9 to 12, Locke welcomed over 10,000 visitors to its site in Brottewitz for its Scholzkopf Festival 2024. They experienced four days full of wood art, music and a world record at Europe’s largest wood festival. On Saturday morning, a new record was set for the world’s largest chainsaw carving course when Locke and 744 participants simultaneously carved the fantasy figure “Groot” from pine logs. The event was rounded off by artists such as “Gestört aber Geil”, the “Krawallbrüder” and Fritz Kalkbrenner. WEIMA was also represented at this unique event with its own stand to explain wood shredding and briquetting.
This year, the first WEIMA Wood Day took place in Ilsfeld, where numerous dealers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland were invited. In addition to specialist presentations and machine demonstrations, a special highlight was the live wood carving by Marcus “Locke” Scholz. In a very short space of time, he transformed massive pieces of wood into true works of art in front of the guests – including a small WL 4 shredder, an owl made of birch wood and numerous “Groot” figures carved out of the block of wood.
