WEIMA shredder with various sieving options: without sieve, perforated sieve in various hole sizes, honeycomb sieve and zig-zag sieve

Screens

Sieves | screens for defined material discharge

The screen is attached around the rotor and defines the material size (grain size) to be achieved. As a rule, the larger the holes, the coarser the chopped material.

Round hole

10-150 mm diameter

The classic standard sieve can be used universally for almost all types of material.

Honeycomb

20-150 mm wide openings

The increased hole area (more holes per m2) increases the throughput. Despite the low web thickness, the structure is particularly stable.

Did you know?
Modeled on nature - the bionic design of the honeycomb sieve was inspired by dimensionally stable honeycombs.

Kidney

50-250 mm diameter

The characteristic kidney shape minimizes clogging of flat 2D materials and is therefore often used for shredding industrial waste.

Zig-zag

25-80 mm web width

Designed for special applications in the plastics sector, the zig-zag screen is ideal for shredding big bags or tear-resistant fibers.

Screen designs

Screwed or swiveling?
Graphic demonstrating the different sieve types

Whether a sieve should be firmly screwed in place or swivel up or down is closely linked to the maintenance of a machine. This results in individual advantages when changing sieves and cutting blades or cleaning.

Screw sieve

In the Shredder series S3 and S4 shredder series, the sieve is firmly bolted to the frame as standard. This provides high stability and durability and prevents the sieve basket from slipping or deforming. The precise positioning of the sieve basket ensures uniform and consistent shredding results.

Screen basket swivels downwards

WEIMA offers a swivel-mounted screen basket for almost all shredders in manual and hydraulic versions, which can be swung up or down. This allows free access to the rotor and convenient maintenance without any components getting in the way.

Sieve swivels downwards

Screen basket can be swiveled upwards

The screen basket, which can be swiveled upwards, also enables quick and cost-effective maintenance and cleaning of the machine – particularly important when shredding abrasive materials and the correspondingly higher wear on knives.

If a different final size is required, the screen, which is divided into several segments, can be easily replaced within a few minutes.
