Biomass briquetting and pressing of biogenic waste materials

Use the energy that’s hiding within biomass! Straw, hay, tobacco, nut shells, peat, miscanthus, shells from legumes, cotton wool, and flax are valuable raw materials that can be used for the production of energy.

Learn more about the disposal and energetic use of biomass

      Economic and environmentally friendly

The briquette form makes your waste transportable and ready for profitable sales. The calorific value of the highly compressed briquettes is much higher than with loose mass, the burning properties are ideal. The efficient further use of biomass as a low-cost alternative for the production of feed for the agricultural industry is also indispensable.

      02

      Manual advantages through briquetting

      1. Volume reduction of up to 90 % of the starting material
      2. Improvement of combustion properties
      3. Reduction of dust emission
      4. High pressing pressure for high briquette density
      5. Better residue handling
      6. Minimized disposal costs
      7. Reduction of transport and storage costs
      8. User-friendly design
      9. High ease of maintenance

      03

      Safe and clean

The dust generated during the processing of biomass is not only cumbersome and contaminates the workplace, but also poses a considerable health risk for your employees or even a risk of explosion. This danger must be minimized – and briquetting provides a solution. The dusts can be fed to the briquette press via an extraction system and then used or sold in briquette form for energetic use.

      Biomass as fuel

Renewable raw materials are regionally and sustainably available as bioenergy sources and are characterized by considerable production and utilization potentials.

The pressing of biomass to briquettes improves the combustion properties compared to the loose material. In briquette form, biogenic raw materials can be ideally used for combustion in a heating stove.

By using your own energy, you can become independent and generate sustainable heat with a clear conscience.

      Did you know?
For dimensionally stable briquettes made of biomass, the water content of the material should be below 15 percent.

Waste material in top form thanks to WEIMA briquette presses

WEIMA offers you a briquette press individually adapted to your desired throughput capacity and application, whether as a single machine or as a complete solution for the energetic use of miscanthus, straw or other biomass. The throughput capacity of WEIMA briquetting presses for biomass is between 40 kg/h and 400 kg/h. With a WEIMA briquette press, you can press your biogenic waste materials into dimensionally stable briquettes without the addition of binding agents.
