Leading the Way in Wood Waste Management: IWF Atlanta is the largest woodworking event in the US, and WEIMA is ready to bring the house down with its on-site shredding!
As a leading provider of size reduction machinery and systems, WEIMA is eager to showcase its cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions designed to meet the dynamic requirements of the wood industry. At the main WEIMA booth, attendees can discover the latest innovations in wood shredding, recycling, and waste management, all designed to enhance efficiency and maximize profits. WEIMA will have a range of machines at the event, with several demonstrations in operation. Stop by booth #B7149 for an exclusive look.
Destroy Responsibly™ Program Returns to IWF Atlanta
The Destroy Responsibly™ program, which initially started at this show nearly two decades ago, is set to return to the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in Atlanta from August 6-9, 2024. This initiative aims to demonstrate sustainable waste management practices in the woodworking industry by collecting and shredding wood waste generated during the exhibition. WEIMA will use its WLK 15 single-shaft shredder to process the waste on-site, highlighting how businesses can reduce their environmental impact and potentially save on waste disposal costs.
The shredded material will be gathered and transported collectively, resulting in cost savings on transportation and reductions in CO2 emissions. This program not only educates attendees about responsible waste management but also aligns with IWF's commitment to sustainability. WEIMA encourages exhibitors to participate by bringing their wood waste to designated collection areas throughout the event.
WEIMA is set to introduce the TH 1200, a versatile briquette press engineered to fulfill industrial requirements. Featuring a modular design, the TH 1200 seamlessly integrates into existing wood shops and production lines. This press efficiently processes materials such as wood shavings, dust, and biomass, delivering high throughput rates and exceptional briquette quality. Additionally, the machine is available in a Duo version, which significantly increases throughput with minimal additional space needed. WEIMA will display this machine at booth #B7149 during IWF Atlanta.

WEIMA will feature a Woodchuck single-shaft shredder in operation on the show floor, available for demonstration. As the most popular machine from the previous exhibition, it is poised for a highly anticipated return.
Despite being the smallest machine in WEIMA’s lineup, the Woodchuck has made a significant impact in wood shops worldwide. Its rotor design incorporates cutting knives securely bolted into welded knife holders, ensuring reliable and consistent shredding. This robust design also facilitates easy cleaning and preventative maintenance, making the Woodchuck an ideal choice for any small- to medium-sized wood shops.
WEIMA Woodchuck single-shaft shredder
The WL 8 single-shaft shredder has proven itself to be the classic shredder for wood waste of all kinds and can be found in thousands of woodworking shops all over the world. The global popularity of this shredder series assures high reliability at a competitive price to performance ratio. This machine distinguishes itself from others of similar size and type through its sturdy build, which ensures a prolonged life cycle.
WEIMA WL 8 single-shaft shredder
While the WLK 10 single-shaft shredder boasts impressive versatility, its true strength lies in wood processing. This robust machine, equipped with V-rotor technology and controlled material feeding, tackles a wide range of wood materials, including lumber, pallets, plywood, demolition wood, and more. Its wide rotor diameter enables it to accommodate larger pieces too.
The rotor of the WLK 10 is easily accessible.
The primary distinction between classic and horizontal shredders lies in the material infeed. Horizontal shredders use a beveled manual feed instead of a hydraulic ram, making them ideal for longer scrap like strips, battens, timber, profiles, and pipes. Typically positioned next to the machine for manual feeding, these compact and sturdy shredders are designed for seamless integration into automated production systems. They feature advanced data interfaces and user-friendly maintenance.

The horizontal single-shaft shredder efficiently converts linear wood waste into various chip sizes. Its vibrating infeed conveyor ensures consistent feeding, making it ideal for woodworking shops and allowing for the WEIMA shredder to be placed next to machines for processing MDF and solid wood.
This South Carolina based company, Southern Lumber, produces structural lumber for housing. When they noticed they were hauling off loads of wood waste each week, Southern Lumber began researching options for ways to resell that waste and make a little extra profit. Read more about that here.
