When shredding highly abrasive materials, machines are exposed to extreme loads. To minimize downtimes and reduce maintenance costs, WEIMA relies on a particularly robust machine design with targeted protective measures against wear. The use of high-strength materials such as Creusabro, Vautid and Hardox optimally reinforces heavily stressed components such as rotors, blades, screens and cutting chambers. These special solutions help to significantly extend the service life of the machines and maximize operational efficiency. WEIMA shredders therefore offer ideal conditions for use with the most demanding materials.
WEIMA shredders for processing highly abrasive materials can be protected with various options to reduce wear and thus downtime and maintenance costs. The thick walls of the machine frame make WEIMA shredders particularly robust. The rotor is equipped with Vautid reinforced, the sieve with Creusabro. Large knives with an edge length of up to 130 mm x 130 mm can be selected to protect the cutting knives against the impact of foreign bodies. Vautid can also protect knife carriers.
Vautid weld-on for shredder rotor
To avoid increased abrasion of the rotor face plates, we recommend fitting replaceable Creusabro wear plates on both sides. The cutting chamber can also be reinforced and can optionally be lined with replaceable Creusabro plates. Wear protection does not stop at the screen, which defines the material size. For particularly high wear, we offer a Creusabro-reinforced screen with a wall thickness of approx. 20 mm.
What is Creusabro?
Creusabro is a wear-resistant steel. Compared to low-alloy wear-resistant steels, Creusabro has a higher heat resistance. WEIMA uses Creusabro with a hardness of 58 HRC.
Waht is Vautid?
Vautid is a build-up welding material that can be applied to components as a welding alloy. Vautid with 62 HRC is used for WEIMA shredders.
What is Hardox?
Hardox is an abrasion-resistant steel and is mainly used as a wear plate with a hardness of up to 600 HBW. Different degrees of hardness can be applied depending on the requirements.
WEIMA relies on hydraulic drives from Hägglunds for shredding highly abrasive materials. Thanks to high torques at low speeds, integrated overload protection and the option of automatic reverse operation, machines are protected against wear and unwanted downtimes are avoided. The load capacity of the drive ensures a long service life and reduces maintenance costs. In addition, the smooth control enables gentle starting and stopping, which is particularly advantageous for materials that are difficult to shred. The hydraulic drive therefore ensures efficient operation even under extreme conditions.
