Machines for compacting or draining – with PÜHLER know-how

With the purchase of the drainage specialist PÜHLER, WEIMA has expanded its competence in the field of compaction. For more than four decades and with more than 6,000 machines on the market, PÜHLER presses have been used in the beverage and food industry for the pressing and recycling of packaging and labels of all kinds.

Rejects can also occur during the production of ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, remoulade or other sauces. No matter whether it is to be disposed of professionally or reused as rework – the first step is to empty the packaging or container with a PUEHLER press.

Benefit from the advantages of an integrated waste disposal concept
That is why a WEIMA press is worth it for you:

Recycling instead of hazardous waste
Until now, rejects, production defects and defective batches have had to be disposed of expensively as hazardous waste because the contents are still in the packaging. This is neither environmentally conscious nor economical. Even if the containers are already emptied by hand, this ties up additional personnel, who have to perform a high proportion of manual work. The solution: WEIMA drainage machines of the PUEHLER series.

Full containers or packs can be fed into the press fully automatically. After the packaging or labels have been emptied and compacted, waste streams are separated according to material and can be disposed of properly.

3-in-1: Empty. Separate. Press.
With a PUEHLER press you get the all-inclusive package. Once filled, the machine separates the contents from the packaging in one process step. The packaging itself is compressed. The discs produced are ideally suited for plastic or metal recycling. The contents can be disposed of properly or, if necessary, further processed, e.g. in the rework process.

Superior machine design
Especially for rework applications in food production the prevention of microbial contamination is of central importance. For this reason WEIMA relies on Hygienic Design, which takes into account hygiene-critical specifications for food safety. Thus we rely on machine bodies made of stainless steel, special welding seams to prevent contamination and on a low-maintenance, cleanable overall concept. A fully automatic cleaning system within the machine ensures high machine availability. In addition, we use food-grade oils for rework machines. The machines are HACCP-compliant and can easily be integrated into your Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) concept.

Industry 4.0 ready
At WEIMA you will never get an off-the-shelf machine. Each press delivered is individually configured and handed over to the user as a turnkey, plug-and-play solution. State-of-the-art data interfaces guarantee seamless integration into your production line, so that the machine can be controlled and monitored in fully automatic operation. Another advantage that is only available from WEIMA: As a shredding specialist we also offer upstream and downstream system solutions if required. These include single-shaft and four-shaft shredders, granulators and briquette presses with enormous pressing forces.

We rely on stainless steel

For a long service life, we recommend the particularly high-quality stainless steel machine version. The machine body is thus protected against heavy wear and corrosion like rust. For less abrasive applications we also offer machine versions made of galvanized or painted steel.

Examples from draining and compacting applications

Typical reasons for production rejects

  • Under or overfilled packaging
  • Overproduction
  • Incorrect labeling
  • Wrong content or recipe
  • Damaged packaging
  • Rinsing batches after recipe change
  • Returns

If the scrap material is not suitable for further use as rework for hygienic or quality reasons, it does not necessarily have to end up unused in garbage. Rejects are often suitable as a source of energy (incineration or fermentation) or even as fertilizer or feed on farms.

The company Huober shows how this can be done in an easy way.

Got milk?
