Sustainable. Innovative. Digital. – WEIMA at the LIGNA.Innovation Network

09.09.2021

While the pandemic has slowed down many industries, the woodworking and wood processing industries remain in the fast lane and are continuing to produce at full speed despite the growing shortage of raw materials. The order books in the wood construction and furniture industries have been packed full for months. And where wood is being diligently planed, sawn and milled in furniture workshops and carpentry shops, wood waste that has to be disposed of is inevitably produced. At the digital LIGNA.Innovation Network on September 27-29, WEIMA will show you how best to deal with it. The focus will be on sustainable recycling solutions for subsequent energy generation.

The disposal of wood waste is all too often seen as a necessary and costly evil. With holistic solution concepts, WEIMA, the Ilsfeld shredder specialist, demonstrates that small and medium-sized craft businesses as well as large industrial companies can return a profit from their waste wood both for the environment as well as for their own business result.

WEIMA WLK 1500 single-shaft shredder – The flexible shredding solution for all types of waste wood

With the WEIMA WLK 1500 single-shaft shredder, WEIMA offers a flexible universal machine. Designed for high throughputs, the shredder easily shreds all types of hardwoods and softwoods, scrap wood, OSB and MDF waste, veneer, plywood, stairs, doors and even entire pallets. Their nails and screws are simply shredded with them and can then be separated with an overbelt magnet or a magnetic drum. Downstream machines such as hammer mills and briquetting presses are thereby protected.

Optimum wood waste recycling

With a working width of 1,500 mm and a rotor diameter of 368 mm, the versatile shredder shreds waste wood to a uniform grain size. If required, the shredded wood chips can then be pressed using a WEIMA briquetting press. The briquettes can be sold for a profit but are also suitable for combustion in a company’s own heating systems. Alternatively, wood chips can also be used directly as fuel to heat buildings and large halls. Wood chip combustion is particularly sustainable, as one is relying on existing waste wood and avoiding additional deforestation.

LIGNA has for decades been one of the most important trade shows for WEIMA. Even though we long to exchange ideas with customers in person, we are happy that at least a virtual meeting can take place. We want to use the LIGNA.IN to exchange ideas with an international audience about sustainable wood waste recycling in the wood processing industry.

WEIMA Sales Director

As part of the new trade show concept (expo, conference and networking), WEIMA experts will be available throughout the entire trade show to exchange information with visitors via the direct networking function.
