IFAT business summit: from a yogurt cup to a new recycled product

The first IFAT impact business summit, presented by the VMDA, celebrated its premiere from Sep 8-10 2020 in Munich, Germany. With success from the very start: approx. 2,100 people participated online in the course of three days. And WEIMA played a key role in this program. The topic of the solution tour: "From a yogurt cup to a new recycled product". Sales director Patrick Henzler, representing the recycling and size reduction industry, explained innovative shredding solutions for the handling of post-consumer plastic waste. Afterwards, he and other experts on stage answered multiple questions from the digital audience.

This is major boost for resource efficiency.

Experts of the solution tour on stage

Being the host of the IFAT solution tour, Alissa Stein challenged the experts to describe the circular economy using the example of a yogurt plastic cup. While WEIMA sales director Patrick Henzler mentioned the characteristics of the shredding and recycling process, Michael Perl from SeSoTec focused on material sorting and foreign material detection. From an operator’s viewpoint, Svensk Plaståtervinning CEO Mattias Philipsson provided valuable first-hand insights of his daily plastic recycling business based in Sweden.
