Partners in Tradeshow Recycling

The success of the Destroy Responsibly™ program is made possible through the collaboration of key partners. Freeman, a leading event solutions provider for AWFS® Fair, has teamed up with WEIMA to manage logistics and shredding operations. AWFS® has supported the initiative by promoting it to attendees and exhibitors, while the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has facilitated local coordination and emphasized the program’s sustainability efforts.

What happens with the shredded wood waste?

Repurpose America, a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on material repurposing and recycling, is overseeing the shredded wood, preventing its disposal in landfills.  Through its partnership with the Destroy Responsibly™ program, this initiative enhances the environmental impact of waste management efforts.

The collaboration ensures that wood waste produced during the fair is redirected toward beneficial use within the local community, while also advancing broader sustainability objectives.

AWFS® Fair 2023

Back at AWFS® Fair 2023, WEIMA showcased its innovative shredding technology through a live demonstration. The WLK 10 single-shaft shredder shredded all of the wood waste created from the show floor and was transported to another facility where it was either repurposed into animal bedding or composted.

The woodworking industry continues to experience steady growth, and AWFS® emphasizes that sustainability remains as crucial today as it has ever been. WEIMA’s Destroy Responsibly™ program serves as a strong example of how innovation can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility, setting a standard for others in the industry to follow.
