WEIMA crushers are among the classic coarse pre-shredders. In contrast to single-shaft shredders, they have no rotor and no counter knives. The material is not cut, but crushed.
An auger placed horizontally in the machine body is used for this. The extra-large screw crushes and tears the fed material. In this way, a considerable reduction in volume and a significant reduction in the volume of waste can be achieved.
The material is fed in via a generously dimensioned hopper. A large auger with a diameter of 1,000 mm works inside the WEIMA wood shredder. This grips the wood material and crushes it against the robust side walls of the machine through slow, powerful rotation.
In contrast to other shredders that cut, the wood grinder breaks up the material through pressure and friction. This produces pieces that are roughly the size of an A4 sheet of paper. After shredding, the material falls out of the machine by gravity. It can then be fed via a conveyor belt into further processes, such as fine shredding or metal separation.
Crushers are often used to break up large materials such as waste wood and large wooden objects. This includes pallets, furniture, crates and large wood waste.
They are particularly suitable for disposable pallets and wooden Euro pallets. Nails or screws do not need to be removed beforehand. Metals can be easily separated after shredding.
Bulky furniture from bulky waste, boxes or other containers can also be pre-shredded without any problems. The use of crushers leads to a considerable reduction in volume, effectively reducing large quantities of waste.
The crusher technology offers customers a reliable solution for the efficient pre-crushing of heavy and bulky materials. Thanks to their robust design and high load capacity, crushers are able to process even hard and contaminated materials without the need for frequent maintenance. This ensures less downtime and a longer service life for the machine.
Due to the enormous volume reduction that crushers achieve, companies can significantly reduce waste piles and thus save on transportation and storage costs. The easy handling and high throughput enable large quantities of material to be processed quickly. This is an important advantage for companies that have high requirements in terms of shredding performance. The crusher technology thus provides a cost-efficient, time-saving and sustainable solution for material processing.
