Away from the landfill: Greenpartners recycles 1,300 tons of waste per month into alternative fuel

Greenpartners Co, Ltd from Hwaseong, South Korea, specializes in the recycling of industrial waste. Instead of disposing of waste in landfill sites, it is converted into refuse derived fuels – and thus into valuable energy resources. The company relies on a WEIMA PowerLine 2500 single - shaft shredder with hydraulic drive.

Founded in 2004, Greenpartners not only makes a significant contribution to the prevention of environmental pollution but also creates valuable jobs in the northwest of South Korea. Currently, 74 employees are working to turn waste into high-calorific fuels instead of sending it to landfill unused. Every month, the company recycles around 1,300 tons of industrial and household waste. In this way, it actively contributes to energy generation and the promotion of sustainable processes.

The zero waste campaign: using waste as a resource

Greenpartners launched its own zero waste campaign in 2017 to recycle waste even more efficiently. The company uses specially equipped vehicles to collect industrial and household waste regionally and nationally. The production process begins with the pre-shredding and removal of e-waste using magnetic separation. The material is then loaded into the WEIMA PowerLine 2500 single-shaft shredder using a crane. The hydraulically driven shredder with an output of 250 kW shreds the material to a homogeneous size of 70 mm. The product is then loaded and sold to incineration plants, where it is used to generate energy.

Increased efficiency through a hydraulic shredder drive

Switching from an electromechanical belt drive to a hydraulic drive brought decisive advantages for Greenpartners: “The hydraulic solution from WEIMA has revolutionized our processes. With higher capacity and reliability, we can now process even larger volumes of waste,” reports Ryu Jaebang, Managing Director at Greenpartners. Thanks to the new technology, operations now run more smoothly, more efficiently and with less downtime.”

Why a hydraulic drive? Find out here!

In addition to the proven electromechanical drive and the energy-efficient high-torque drive, the hydraulic drive is a powerful direct drive option for WEIMA shredders. Under the toughest working conditions, it enables smooth stopping, starting and reversing, even under full load. The hydraulic drive from Hägglunds Bosch Rexroth impresses with its high flexibility, as the speed and torque are infinitely variable - without current peaks. It is particularly robust against interfering materials and delivers high torques at a low kW output. It is also low-maintenance, as it has virtually no mechanical wear parts and is insensitive to vibrations.

Working together for a sustainable future

The partnership between Greenpartners and WEIMA goes beyond the purchase of machines. The close exchange has made it possible to develop tailor-made solutions and implement the company’s requirements in the best possible way. Greenpartners‘ success story shows how advanced technologies and committed collaboration can actively shape waste management. Together, they are setting a strong example for the circular economy and a greener future.
