WEIMA crushes it on the show floor at Craft Brewers Conference 2023

trade show 23.05.2023

WEIMA raised the bar at the Craft Brewers Conference 2023 with their remarkable drainage press, crushing cans with ease and transforming them into valuable compressed discs. Their innovative technology not only maximizes storage efficiency and transportation savings but also showcases their commitment to sustainability in the brewing industry.

So long, Nashville!

WEIMA exhibited at this trade show, also known as Brew Expo 2023, in early May in Tennessee. The E.200 drainage press was operating throughout the show, compressing empty cans from neighboring booths. Fellow exhibitors were fascinated with the machine's mechanics and made it a point to bring their empties to the WEIMA booth where they were transformed into compressed discs before their eyes.

The energy and enthusiasm drawn by the crowd at the show was invigorating. The conversation around sustainability continues to grow ever louder, and WEIMA is at the forefront of that in the brewing industry with this drainage press technology.

Less waste, more space

The drainage press is versatile, with three different hopper designs. The various models, as well as the casters the machine comes on, make this machine easily integrated into existing canning lines. The machine is compact and can be rolled into place, minimizing production down time and increasing productivity of employees who were otherwise collecting and draining underfilled, damaged, and otherwise rejected cans by hand.

The benefit of the WEIMA machine is that the compressed discs take up significantly less space than the empty cans in their standard form. Compressing these cans makes the aluminum easier to store prior to recycling and simultaneously more valuable to recyclers. Due to the decreased bulk of the aluminum, transporting the drained beverage containers for disposal is easier and less frequent, maximizing labor and space and minimizing transportation costs.

The WEIMA team crushed 3,600 cans in 2 days, weighing 100 lbs. The recycled value of this much aluminum is $80, and the WEIMA team plans to donate the proceeds to a charity chosen by the Brewers Association on their behalf.
