With NPE2018: The Plastics Show right around the corner, WEIMA America is bringing size reduction machinery solutions for the plastics industry, as well as a knowledgeable team to determine the best fit for any operation.
WEIMA America is excited to be returning to NPE2018: The Plastics Show in May and is planning to arrive with a full arsenal of size reduction equipment in tow. WEIMA has not one but two booths at the show that will be fully staffed with knowledgeable experts in the field of plastics shredding and grinding and full to the brim with their renowned German-manufactured machinery.
WEIMA WLK 30 Super Jumbo
The largest machine that will be on display will be the WEIMA WLK 30 Super Jumbo. This machine is enormous and is sized to meet the needs of operations with large pieces of scrap or large throughput quantities. Visitors to the WEIMA booth (Booth W-5489 and W-5589) will be able to view inside of the machine’s hopper, which will not be in operation but will be open for viewing. The Super Jumbo line of machinery is both versatile and reliable, with robust construction. This is also a great line of machinery if an operation’s application requires custom settings. There are over 80 optional features available on these machines, giving WEIMA the ability to tackle an application with care. Every plastics shredding application is unique, and every WEIMA shredding solution is as well.
WEIMA WKS
WEIMA will also have a brand-new addition to the shredding line on display. The WEIMA WKS will make its North American debut on the NPE2018 tradeshow floor, where visitors to the booth can see its modern, user-friendly design. The WKS series is ideal for processing everything from bulky objects to tear-resistant fibers and film. A swing ram on rolls is positioned inside the cutting chamber, providing for consistent infeed of materials. An inspection flap inside the chamber allows for easy access for preventative maintenance and to clear any foreign objects that may have been introduced during the shredding process.
These shredders come equipped with hydraulic drives or power belt drives depending on the application.
The rotor type depends on the application—a V-rotor for lumps and large objects, or an F-rotor for fibers and film. The screen size can be chosen to fine-tune the final shredded product to the ideal size– for reintroduction into a production line, or for recycling.
Commitment to Sustainability in Action at NPE2018
Perhaps the most exciting part of WEIMA’s involvement with NPE2018 is the recycling partnership with the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS)—the producers of NPE2018– and Commercial Plastics Recycling, Inc. (CPR). WEIMA is excited to be one of the Official Recycling Partners of NPE2018! CPR will have a team on site to collect and remove plastic scrap from the show floor and transport it to the Westwood parking lot. WEIMA will have a WLK 15 single-shaft shredder in operation there and will process the plastic material on the spot. The plastic will be pre-sorted, shredded, and then conveyed through a granulator. CPR will then transport the resulting granulate to their headquarters in Tampa, Florida. The smaller granulate size will reduce the number of trucks CPR has to use to haul the scrap from the show as well.
This is an opportunity for show-goers to see a first-hand demonstration of recycling in action. WEIMA is excited to be given this opportunity to help make NPE2018 even more environmentally-focused than it has been in years past. PLASTICS is committed to recycling and sustainability, as are WEIMA and CPR. This program is an interactive opportunity to educate both exhibitors and attendees on how easily recycling machinery can be incorporated into a production line and how valuable plastic scrap can be. WEIMA is thrilled to help demonstrate NPE2018: The Plastics Show’s commitment to sustainability!
