Hitting the Road: WEIMA’s versatility on full display in 2023

trade show 13.01.2023

WEIMA boasts a wide range of size reduction machinery, which allows the company to provide the right machine for the job. From compact single-shaft shredders ideal for operations that produce a low volume of scrap to enormous shredders capable of processing whole bales of film, WEIMA believes in specifying the correct solution for the application at hand. Now the company is back on the road to tell the US market about the many options they have when it comes to recycling.

First stop: Indianapolis, Indiana

The wood industry is where it all began for WEIMA, so it only makes sense that the first conference of the year focuses on wood shredding. Indianapolis, Indiana and the surrounding states is a hot spot for woodworking, which means there is plenty of bulky wood scrap waiting to be processed. The furniture and building components industries are notorious for creating wood waste in the form of block waste from chop saws, bulky skeletons from CNC routers, and linear waste from ripsaws. No matter the shape of the scrap, WEIMA has in-plant wood grinders that can process excess material where it’s produced.

The Indiana Hardwood Lumbermens’ Association hosts a conference each year in February. The show is full of woodworkers who understand the burden of space that bulky wood waste takes up. The WEIMA team is happy to be a resource for those operations that are looking for in-plant size reduction machinery that can save them on floor space, handling costs, time, and labor. From hopper-fed shredders to horizontal grinders, WEIMA has a viable solution for these operations.

WEIMA will be exhibiting at IHLA booth #714 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown on February 7-8th. Conference attendees are invited to stop by to discuss all things related to wood waste management.

Next up: Orlando, Florida

The city of Orlando is a tourist destination for many reasons, including its warm weather, its famous golf courses, and of course that famous mouse we all know and love. WEIMA is headed to the Sunshine State in late February for the Southeast Recycling Conference, an annual event that draws recycling-minded companies from all over the southeastern US. WEIMA will be among these companies, exhibiting pre-shredding and secondary shredding technologies that can set a company’s recycling line up for success. One thing is true: most recycling processes begin with shredding.

WEIMA offers robust shredders for the waste industry with a variety of custom options. This means that each application—from packaging to production waste and even mixed waste streams can be shredded to certain specifications prior to reaching sorting equipment or other auxiliary machinery. The systems engineers at WEIMA pride themselves in their ability to design machines that fit in pre-existing or new production lines.

The 2023 Southeast Recycling Conference (SERC) will be held at the Rosen Centre Hotel on February 27th-28th.

Third stop: National Harbor, Maryland

Plastic recycling is a familiar topic in the news. The plastics industry is unique because technology must evolve as rapidly as material types evolve. With each new compound that is developed comes new challenges. The Research and Development team is constantly innovating to ensure that WEIMA shredders and granulators can rise to meet those challenges.

The versatility of these machines within the plastics industry should not be understated. Manufacturers with specific waste streams, as well as plastic recycling facilities that have multiple lines to process a variety of plastic types, can benefit significantly from a WEIMA shredder. There is no one-size-fits-all machine, especially in the plastics recycling industry. From film to purge to nonwovens to blow-molded pieces to foam, WEIMA has a machine that is right for the job.

The Plastics Recycling Conference has become one of the busiest plastics-related shows in the country. This is especially true in the off years of NPE: The Plastics Show, which is a massive triennial trade show held in Orlando, Florida. The PRC booths are consistently sold-out year after year, and the quality of the exhibitors is top notch. WEIMA is excited to return as a silver sponsor of the event in National Harbor, a suburb of Washington, D.C.
