Füllgraf GmbH & Co. Möbelwerkstätten und Küchenstudio KG with its registered office in Bad Arolsen is self sufficient – at least when it comes to heating its production hall and the adjacent exhibition rooms together with the administrative offices. The company with its over 60 years of history uses the WL 4 single-shaft shredder from WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH of lsfeld for preparing the waste that accumulates daily from left-over wood. The chippings produced are used as fuel for the central heating system.

The family business is specialized in the production of kitchens and interior furnishings. This will sometimes also include the construction of furniture bodies, reception systems and counters in the health sector (doctors’ practices and hospitals) but also individual furniture for private use.
Large quantities of recyclable waste wood occur when cutting with the horizontal panel saw or the circular saw and when taking back old furniture. It is mainly chipboard, MDF panels, multiplex panels but also solid wood that will be shred accordingly. Collected in big boxes, the waste is then fed manually to the WL 4 shredder. The chippings produced will then be extracted above ground and finally end up in the chips silo of the heating system in order to incinerate these.
Thousands of WL 4 shredders are used in small and medium-sized enterprises worldwide – at Füllgraf since as early as 1999. The “classic model” distinguishes itself mainly with its very robust design and durability. The large number of mass-produced shredders also ensures a proven and reliable technology at a good price/performance ratio.

Regarding the function: The materials are fed via the hopper in front of a hydraulic drawer, which controls the material depending on the load and on which the rotating rotor presses. The shredding of the waste wood takes place between the rotor blades and a fixed counter blade whereby the chip size is determined by a filter located below the rotor. The rotor is a patented V rotor manufactured of solid matter and supported in stable rotor bearings Special blade carriers are welded in cut-in blade recesses on its circumference. The cutting blades are inserted into these and screwed in from the rear. This ensures faster blade changing. The concave cutting blades are four times turnable and guarantee a precise cut at high through-put.
“We no longer wish to part with our wood chopper,” says Matthias Füllgraf. We believe him. Just think of ever-increasing energy prices. It is practical if you can be your own energy producer and at the same time, preserve the planet with your CO2-neutral footprint.
The WEIMA Group has been building shredding machines for almost 30 years for a wide range of applications with customers in the plastic, wood and recycling industry from all over the world. The WEIMA Group has about 170 employees around the world with sales locations in Europe, North and South America and Asia. The production range includes single-shaft shredders, four-shaft shredders, granulators, briquette presses and systems including accessories.
